About Filmsim
A different world of airsoft
Story-driven role-play and airsoft events, designed to make you feel like a character in a film.
Where it started
Films, games and LARP
Filmsim grew out of a love of films, computer games and live action role-play. Each event mixes role-play with airsoft, and aims for the balance between realism and fun that suits its story.
Every event opens with a full safety and rules brief, then the backstory, then each side’s taskings. From there the story develops through what the players do.
What to expect
Not a walk-on day
Events are ticket-only and last a full day or a whole weekend. Most have costume, uniform, weapon and equipment rules, so that everyone gets an immersive game.
Expect far less shooting than at an open day. Players work together, follow orders and rules of engagement, and stay on mission. Contact is fast and furious: break off and rethink rather than settle into a long firefight. Grab your wounded and get out.
On most weekend events play stops in the evening, with optional night missions for anyone who wants them, and starts again the next day. Players are encouraged to stay in character in the evening and to camp in the game area where they can.
Looking for a casual open day with plenty of shooting, simple objectives, a lunch break and quick respawns? That’s what our sister company, Gunman Airsoft, runs.
Questions
Asked before every event
I only have multicam and a modern rifle. Can I still come?
Not as you are: on a Great War or Second World War event it would be like entering a superbike race on a scooter, and nobody would get a good game. We don’t expect full historical accuracy, just kit that doesn’t look obviously out of place for the period and the story. We know most people don’t have period weapons and uniforms to hand, so we keep plenty of suitable rifles to rent and uniforms to borrow free. Get in touch and we’ll help you out.
Why is there no single-day ticket?
We offer a Saturday-only ticket where we can. On a weekend event there’s a lot of setting up and dressing the site, and Sunday’s play usually finishes at lunchtime so everyone can pack up. The safety brief, backstory and taskings take time, and repeating them on Sunday would eat into the shorter day.
What should I bring?
It varies by event, so ask if you’re unsure. As a minimum, bring a tent or bivvi bag if you’re staying over (modern tents can go outside the game area), food you can eat cold or heat easily in the field, and plenty of drinking water: most sites we use have no drinking water supply. And the usual airsoft kit.
